Philosophy is cognition from the construction of concepts, which must be reflected in how philosophy is taught. A subject like mathematics can be taught by giving examples, because mathematics is cognition from concepts. When teaching philosophy however, we should avoid giving examples because we are then teaching history. The student may memorize the entire lecture, yet not understand the presented philosophy, nor are they able to create their own philosophies. We should therefore, teach not philosophy but rather the act of philosophising.
